Born in the water and later taking to the air, the dragonfly is a symbol of change and transformation. It also represents wisdom, lightness of being or joy, adaptability, an invitation to explore emotions, and being on your guard for illusions and deceit. This remarkable insect is an important symbol in many countries, embodying themes of change, rebirth, happiness, good luck, and financial gain, as well as insight.
On a personal note, I have encountered many dragonflies (in areas of no water, I might add) when significant change was about to occur in my life. The first, most notable time was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 41. Thankfully, the cancer was caught very early, and I am pleased to say I am now 12 years cancer-free!
Through that journey, I explored Reiki and Healing Touch, and I became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. This training inspired me to delve deeper into holistic practices, including Craniosacral Therapy, as I sought to assist others on their healing journeys.
The most recent time I experienced seeing many dragonflies was right before a family member passed away. After her death, I re-evaluated my life and decided that I wanted to pursue the world of bodywork to assist others in healing and affect positive change in their lives as an intuitive healer.
